Poisoned Knowledge Base

A returns PDF uploaded by a customer carries a hidden instruction. It is ingested into the support knowledge base, retrieved during a routine ticket, and the support agent quietly reads and exfiltrates a high-value customer record. Contain it, fix the cause, and prove the legitimate support workflows still complete.

DLP: agent-initiated egress containing a platinum-tier customer record, from the support agent service identity.

Support agent asks: “summarize our return policy for order 84120”

Legitimate employee request during a live customer chat. Nothing suspicious in the prompt itself.

Support persona, refund limits and tone rules injected. The policy layer inspects the user turn only — retrieved content is not inspected.

Correct return-policy summary returned to the employee

The visible answer is accurate and helpful. The employee has no reason to escalate.
